you're now able to do just that. If you head over to their site you'll get a full explanation of the operation, and
our friends at LikSang are planning to make an installation kit for
anyone with just a little bit of soldering experience. 64scener will be following this cool project and will definately
have to make this installment on one of our GBA's :)
| UBI TO RELEASE GBA SALT LAKE 2002 GAME | |
On 28 September Ubi Soft announced that it had signed an exclusive publishing deal with Eidos to release Salt Lake 2002:
The Official Video Game of the Olympic Winter Games on the Game Boy Advance in January 2002.
The game will feature 6 official Events: Snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom, Curling Tournament, Alpine Skiing Downhill,
Alpine Skiing Slalom, Ski Jumping K120 Individual and Two-man Bobsleigh. All environments are based on the actual
locations in Salt Lake City where the Olympic Winter Games are being held in February 2002.
Players will have the choice of 4 modes of play, Olympic, Classic, Tournament and Time Trial as well as a turn-based
option that allows 4 players to join in the fun on one machine. In-game progress can be saved using the battery back-up
feature so that you’ll never lose your well-earned gold medal.
| FANCY A GAME OF PORTABLE CHESS? | |
Well then you're in luck, cause Titus has announced Virtual Kasparov for the Gameboy Advance, to be released
in January 2002. Featuring a total of 62 chess games, Virtual Kasparov showcases a highly complex chess engine
designed by the authors of the renowned PC program Virtual Chess as well as an opening repertoire from the
greatest and most renowned chess player ever, Garry Kasparov.
Virtual Kasparov has been designed to appeal to all levels of player from beginner to Grand Master with a total
of 50 chess tutorial modules. To keep single players ‘hooked’ there are 31 unique opponents, each with
individual personalities, and an added ‘story mode’ with bonuses to unlock new opponents, areas and games.
Furthermore, to checkmate even the most ardent chess fan, Virtual Kasparov includes a two player link with
single pack mode. If time is of the essence then the ‘quick start mode’ will allow players to jump straight
into a game and also offers the option to customise player profiles.

Universal Interactive today confirmed that Crash Bandicoot, one of the best-selling games in the history of the
Sony PlayStation, will be appearing on the Gameboy Advance in the first quater of 2002 (USA) and will be called
Crash Bandicoot X/S. The developer of the game is Vicarious Visions, developer of the hot selling GBA Tony Hawks
Pro Skater 2.
Crash Bandicoot X/S contains 20 levels featuring six unique locations that take Crash anywhere from the Mayan
Jungle to frigid Arctic Caverns. The game also features gameplay modes ranging from side-scrolling to 3D chase
levels to aerial dogfight combat sequences. The variety in presentation styles and gameplay is a hallmark of the
Crash franchise and is featured throughout the game, another first for the GameBoy Advance.
In the new game, Crash will embark on a wild adventure as once again he is pitted against his arch-nemesis, the
evil Dr. Neo Cortex! Orbiting high above Earth, Cortex has decided to abandon his fixation on our hero and
redirect his evil focus. Why did he get into the villain business in the first place? World domination, of
course! Using his latest invention, a massive shrinking ray, Cortex takes aim and fires at Earth, shrinking the
planet and its inhabitants to the size of a grapefruit! Luckily, Crash's brilliant kid sister, Coco, is
feverishly working on a machine to reverse the effects, but she needs crystals from around the world to power
her invention. It is up to Crash to retrieve the crystals and help return the entire planet to its natural
state!

| UBI SOFT ANNOUNCES CUBE RPG |  |
Ubi Soft has signed a deal with Entertainment Software Publishing to bring one of the first RPG's to the
GameCube. The game is called Evolution Worlds and will be published by Ubi Soft worldwide, except Japan, China,
Korea and Taiwan, in the first half of 2002. The game is being planned by ESP and developed by Sting.

· Re-writen a very big part of the soft.
· Add many message for alert if file is too big for the space.
· Now, plugins are process before "flash".
· You can process a "plugin" on a file with the right button on the Graph.
· In the plugins list : plugins with "auto", are applie when you add the game to the graph.
· Change the "no trainer" plugins to remove the code of the trainer.
· Add new plugins : "Info", who give you many information on the file.
· Rewrite all the plugins, and change the plugins SDK.
· Rewrite the edit code dialog box on Adv Backup function

| FIRST GAMECUBE GAME DELAY - PIKMIN | |
The Nintendo64 was probably the console with the most delayed and cancelled games, and it's seems that the GameCube may
follow in it's foot steps, atleast we have already seen the first game delayed even before the system hits the streets
in America. NOA has announced that Pikmin will not be available at launch of the GameCube in November. The new release
date for Pikmin is set to December 3rd and no reason regarding the delay was given.

| NEW GBA COPIER HITS THE STREETS | |
No it's not GBAS the long gone and probably forgotten GBA copier. No, this one is called GBA Transferer 2 and is
produced by EMS Ltd. The GB Transferer 2 unit itself will work with both GBX and GBA carts by operating a small
switch on the side of the unit. Sofar it only a 64mbit GBA cartridge (and 16/32mbit GBC) exist for the unit. It is now
on sale at www.liksang.com, US$34.90 for the
Transferer and US$79 for the 64mbit cartridge.
The software for the unit has been added for our tools section, please note that it does not currently run under
Windows 2000.

Eventhough the European GameCube is far away, the japanese version was released a few days ago and I believe it's time to
start my coverage of upcomming NGC material. Though don't expect as massive coverage as the Gameboy Advance, as this is the
sites main console after the death of the Nintedo64, but we (I) will bring you info on some of the good stuff comming for
the NGC, like the old Nintendo64 game, Dinosaur Planet :)

| KEMCO OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES TV TUNER IN EUROPE | |
Earlier today Kemco made press release concerning their upcomming TV tuner for the gameboy
advance. They did hand out a flyer at ECTS this year, check our GBA flyers section, but no
details were given. The working title of the project is called "TV Boy" and they are currently
working on both a PAL and NTSC version, a SECAM version is being concidered but not yet confirmed.
The unit should be ready for a summer 2002 release.

THQ yesterday announced that they've made a exclusive worldwide agreement with Brutney Brands Inc. to publish games
featuring the pop idol, Britney Spears. Jeff Lapin, vice chairman and COO, THQ said “We are delighted to be working

| TODAY'S HORRIFIC ACT OF TERROR IN THE US | |
I doubt anyone hasn't heard by now that two planes today crashed into the World Trade Center, and one into Pentagon aswell.
Only a short while later, both WTC towers crashed into the ground. Just after the news broke, most news servers on the
internet were hit by people over the world causing cnn.com and bbc.co.uk and other news services being unavailable for
qiute some time due to the overload.
It all just sounded like the worst joke of the day when someone, hello Hexadec, told me two planes had crached into each
tower of the World Trade Center, well it just sounded too impossible, but when the radio soon after reported the
terror acts aswell, it became most horrifying terror act ever heard of, and definately the one causing most lives
at once.

While I was checking up on some information about Telegames' GBA games, I stumbled across a personal site of one of
the workers at Cave Barn Studios where he has posted a Urban Yeti game flyer, which I now have added to my flyers section, and a game background image. The most interesting, to me atleast, is that Cave Barn also is working on a couple
of other games such as Tom & Jerry: The Magical Ring, screenshots on the site, and Majescos M&M game. You can check out

| UBI SOFT SIGNS ENGLISH FOOTBALL STAR | |
On September 2nd, Ubi Soft and developer Exit announced that they had signed a publishing deal
for Steven Gerrad's Total Soccer 2002 for the Gameboy Advance. The game is a sequel to a
game released earlier for the Gameboy Color.
The game features no less than 174 real-world teams, players can participate in either
friendly matches or full-on tournaments at national, European and International levels.
The cart even comes with its own battery backup and 2-player link up mode.
The game will be developed by the Oxford based developer Exient who primary develops games for
handheld devices such as Pocket PC, mobile phones and ofcourse Gameboy Advance. Exient was also
responsible for the Total Soccer 2000 game, Total Soccer Manager and Extreme Ghostbusters, all
released for the Gameboy Color.
Steven Gerrard's Total Soccer 2002 will be released sometime in October 2001.
| PLANET OF THE APES | |
Ubi Soft has come to an agreement with FOX interactive to bring Planet of the Apes to the
Gameboy Advance. The game will be based on the old movies, and not the recent reproduction.
It is being developed by the Australian Torus Games, currently working on Duke Nukem Advance
for Take 2 Interactive. The release date is set to November 2001.
| ECTS: RAGE ANNOUNCES MUSIC CREATION SOFTWARE | |
Rage has announced Pocket Music for the Gameboy Advance, developed by Jester Interactive, to be released
in Q4 2001. There were no signs of Pocket Music anywhere at Rage' stand, atleast not for the public
to see. The game plays pretty much like the famous ejay programs, you're able to create your own songs
from a collection of samples included with the game and the cart features battery backup for saving your
songs, and you an even swap them with a friend via the link cable.
 
Rage also announced their very own boxing game, developed in-house, based on the Rocky movies and is to
be released sometime in 2002. Even more sports is on its way from Rage as they will release David Beckham
Soccer for Playstation, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance in Q4 2001.
| ECTS: BOX A MOVE @ UBI SOFT UK | |
Ubi Soft had a few nice GBA titles showing in their press kit, but no playable or even visible at their
ECTS stand this year, which actually seemed more or less like total chaos of people wanting to play their
PC and PS2 titles.
One of the nice Gameboy Advance titles announced was a boxing game featuring the old boxing star, and
street fighter, Mike Tyson. The game is developed by Virtucraft and features 90 different boxers
(including Tyson's next boxing ball "Super Brian"? /ed) and a two player one to one feature. The game also
features a training program for your boxer, did anyone say Ready 2 Rumble? No specific release date is set,
but the game will be released sometime in 2002.
 
Also announced was the Taito classic Super Bust-A-Move which should be available December 2001. Rouge Spear,
the Tom Clancy game, will be released in Europe in 2002 while an old US release date says September 2001.

Austrian software company JoWood, famous for their Traffic/Industry Giant games for the PC are now ready
to enter the GBA business with their Graffiti Tournament. The game is developed by Neon and the release date
is sofar set to Q1 2002. The game features 30 missions of graffiti vandalizing around the world where
you not only will have to tag every wall you get near of, but also do tricks with your skateboard and avoid
those nasty guys in blue suits. Below are some early screens from the game.

Here's what's new, taken from the readme file.
- First final version
- Add option "Timeout" : the time in ms before the tool said "Timeout", must be greater than 1000 ms default 5000 ms.
- Add option "WaitStep" : time between parallel port check. must be greater or egual than 0, and less than half timeout default 0 ms. More is the WaitStep, less the soft use CPU, but longer is the flashing.
- Support for modified rom (rom with trainer).
- Add new plugins for delete trainer menu in roms. (Beware : is not sure the rom works after)

I returned from ECTS late tuesday. ECTS is what could be called something like the European version of E3, only that
this is a trade only event, which it sure lived up to this year. I have never seen an ECTS show this boring before,
lacking most of the exhibitors from last years show, companies such as Sales Curve (SCI), Konami, THQ, Disney are just
some of the ones missing from last years show.
