NO UPDATES FROM 07.27.2001 TO 08.04.2001 |
I will be on vacation from tomorrow (07.27.2001) and next week and won't be able to answer any mails or even update the site. But do
keep mailing demo etc. and I'll update the site when I return. Thanks, Acey.

FLASH WRITER V2.0 SOFTWARE |
I have now received one too many emails regarding the Flash Advance Writer 2.0 software released yesterday. A lot of people
can't get it into their, obviously, thick thick heads that this release came straight from the manufacturer of the
Flash Advance, no it did not come from Visoly, as Visoly IS NOT the manufacturer,
they're just taking are of advertising and distribution in the Western world, while UFO takes care of Asia.
The Gameboy Advance scene has a serious problem, which is too many retards sitting on IRC spreading rumors of what's
legit and not, in their heads atleast eventhough they don't know shit, making up stupid rumors about resellers and
whatever they can think of, fuck they'll even release repacks or redumps if a release somehow doesn't work on their
cartridge, so there had to be something wrong with the first release, no?
This Flash Advance Writer software is the real deal, I can't make you use it, do or don't I don't really give a shit,
but I do know this is the real deal, but you are very welcome to wait for visoly to add it, and most likely editing the
program to writing "visoly" in the menu bar. Just keep in mind that there is no way in hell i'd add the program if I
didn't know exactly where it came from.

LIKSANG ANNOUNCES NEW FLASH ADVANCE CARTS |
Just as UFO did yesterday, LikSang today announced that their next shipment of cartridges will be same size as
the ones reported yesterday. As a result, LikSang has stopped all shipments of Flash Linker Advcance carts/sets
until these new cartridges are out, which shouldn't be any later than July 30th, in order to give buyers the latest
hardware.
Click here to order from LikSang.
As you can see the carts aren't exact same size as a normal GBA cartridge, but very close and definately looks a lot
better than the old GB/GBC cart size ones.
TYPO IN YESTERDAY'S ANNOUNCEMENT BY UFO |
Tom of UFO Company informed me today that a couple of typos sneaked into the announcement of the new turbo carts
yesterday. One was corrected yesterday, which was the date, not September 28, but actually July 28 - this Saturday.
The other typo(s) was the upgrade price for an old 64mbit cartridge to the new 128mbit cartridge. The price is not
$13, but actually $59, and upgrade from an old 64mbit to the new 64mbit turbo cart, the upgrade price is $23 and
not $13. Prices did sound a bit too good to be true, huh? :)
On my own account I'd like to mention that it seems to me like some people are trying to spread rumors of UFO being
unreliable, I would like to state that this is not true, these guys are just as reliable as anyone else selling
Flash Linkers. UFO and Visoly's copiers and cartridges comes from the very same factory in Asia.
Please don't judge this company based on some stupid rumor you picked up on either IRC or at some page made by a guy
who accidently had a bad experience, bad experiences happen everywhere you know, you can't satisfy everyone. UFO has
been in the videogame business for too long to be concidered unreliable, if they were they'd be long gone by now.
For more information regarding UFO's upgrading prices, click here.

directly files directly to the GBA for viewing.

"TURBO" CARTS RELEASE DATE |
I've asked UFO about the release date, and it is this saturday July 28 and not September 28th as written in their
mail, september 28th isn't a saturday anyway :)
THEY SAID IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN, NOW IT'S HERE! |
The UFO Company mailed me some very interesting information today. Comming soon is a new version, yes another, of
the Flash Linker Advance 64mbit cartridge, and 128mbit for that matter, which now should be as good as crash
free, we hope, and the size of the cartridge is reduced quite a bit.
Here's what UFO wrote:
The AGB-Xchanger manufacturer announces the newest version of Flash Advance 64M card. It features the smaller size
(same size as the original cartridge) using 4 layer pc boards. The manufacturer claims that it will reduce the
noise interference, so that it solves all the hang and crash of some games. It will be packed in a very good
looking aluminum box. It will be released this Saturday. ( Sept28 )
We are accepting upgrading and pre-ordering now. Guarantee ship on the First release date.
Item Unit Price in US$ what included
AGB-Xchanger $30 AGB-Xchanger
AGB- Turbo 64M Card $84 AGB-Turbo 64M Card

Upgrade - from AGB-64M card( old model ) to AGB-Turbo 128M card $13 Send back your AGB-64M Card, we replace an AGB-Turbo 128M Card for you.
Well there you have it, expect even another version of the cartridges to be released on September 28th(?), actually
it is a bit unsure when it's actually released, as September 28 isn't a Saturday, and Visoly's 128mbit cart
is released this Saturday. I will try to get an exact date from UFO, one can only hope that this batch of
cartridges aren't as buggy as the first one of the GB/GBC sized ones.
You can reach UFO's site at www.cd64.com.
Please note that you do not need a new linker for these new cartridges, I have already been getting serveral mails
asking about this, but they will work with the existing one.
Jeff Frohwein has updated his DOS send util for his own cable thing (forgot the name heh) and the GBA Flash Linker
Advanced. He has fixed a programming bug for Visoly carts, as well as a few other things.

TOOL: GBA EEPROM PATCHER V0.5 |
Alf66 has fixed a few bugs in his GBA Generic EEPROM patching tool, I wasnt even aware that it was out, oh well
in case you're wondering what this is used for, well say saving in Mario and other games using EEPROM
for savegames, it converts your game to save using SRAM, which is what the FLA64/128 carts have.
gbaemu.com today announced something which sure is great news, if it's true. Their site says that a guy, going
under the name "ZoMbil46" has converted the old Wolfstein 3D to run on the Gameboy Advance. They do write that
this could be hoax, and what's with the "mouse" on the titlescreen? (ed.), but according to the author the game
and source will be released within the next days.

LIKSANG ANNOUNCES 128MBIT CARTRIDGE |
64scener let you have the news a few days ago, and now LikSang has started taking preorders for the Flash Linker Advance
128mbit cartridge. Unfortunately they, LikSang, also informed us that the 128mbit cartridge will not include the EEPROM
feature, which is quite dissapointing.
The reason for not including the EEPROM is said to be "[...]because the EEPROM inside the GBA cart can be easily changed to
any other brand and size by just changing some routines in the game and it is no way to fulfill all brand (that means
different commands and control signals) and all size EEPROM that can be used in a GBA cart. The best and easy way is to
modify the program to change saver media to SRAM[...]"
The cartridge is said to be available at the end of the month, let's see if that date doesn't slip a bit just like the initial
release of the copier. It is also said that this new cartridge has been improved and tested to eliminate the crash problems
some people had. Pre-order price at LikSang is set US$159, and you can order it here.

I would like to mention that 64scener doesn't offer these commercial releases anywhere, not even hidden away in a dark
corner of the site, as some tend to think. This is simply just a service for those of you who collect the commercial
game releases, keep in mind that this is illegal though, unless you own the actual cartridge. We will not reply or offer
other sites where you can get these game releases, so please stop asking. However you will find lots of homebrewn
software right here. So basicly, stop asking for commercial game roms.

128MBIT CARTRIDGE SOONER THAN YOU EXPECT? |
Well according to sources (IGN language, sorry) we should expect the Flash Linker Advance 128mbit cartridge by the end of
this month. This means that there will be no need for EEPROM patches anymore, as well as being able to store more games
at once. We'll have a review of the cartridge as soon as we can, let's hope they learned a lesson from the 64mbit cart eh? :)

NEW VERSION OF FLASH WRITER |
Visoly has released version 1.2 of their Flash Writer software. Their site still doesn't say what's
been added or fixed. However it seems that atleast two new features were added, the ability to apply
an IPS patch when you're sending the game ROM to the copier, the other, and quite useful to some
people I'm sure, is the ability to erase the flash cartridge now.

It's already out in the US, in a limited number though. It was then picked up by THQ and announced to be released in Europe,
but now it's over, the game won't see a European release. The game I'm talking about is Indiana Jones and the Infernal
Machine which was quietly removed from THQ's release list aswell as press site.
THQ announced that the game never will get a Europe release due to technical problems conveting the game from NTSC to PAL
tv format. The decision had been taken as the code apparently had too many bugs which caused a lot of problems converting
process. Sad to see this release go down the drain as it truely was/is one of the better, if not the best, N64 adventure
game without cute bears or even drunk squirrels, you know who I am talking about right?.
Well I've finally got my hands on the fixed version of the Rayman trainer, and you can get it from our trainers section (here).

|
With help from goldenshop and liksang I've created a small review page of various lights for the Gameboy Advance. There
are still plenty of lights out there which I haven't checked out yet, but it will be done as soon as I get my hands on them,
until then, here's the ones I have checked out.
gbaemu.com has been posting news regarding the new release of the Flash Writer from Visoly, claiming a bug in the release.
It seems that if you backup the Flash 64mbit cartridge using the new release of the Flash Writer software, you will get a bad rom
image, I seriously can't see the problem here, as why would anyone bother, be interested in, dumping the Flash cartridge?(!!)
I haven't botered checking out if it's actually provides a working rom image with the old 1.0, nor have I checked this new
version to see if it delivers a faulty image when the flash cart is backed up, but serveral others have. The only problem I
could think of is if it doesn't backup original flash carts either, but again, don't make it a bigger problem than it is.
IS THIS ALL ABOUT EMULATION? |
I've been looking at the sites similar to 64scener and found that just about everyone carried emulators along with the scene
news. It's sad to see that we cannot have less emulation and more development for the real hardware, such as demos and homebrewn
games which actually works on the real hardware and not just on Boycott or whatever. You won't find GBA emulators for the PC
here, ever, and please don't ask for help getting these working on your PC. Is this really what people want?
CAPITAL unfortunately released a test version of their Rayman trainer, where everything was "ON" and non-selectable.
Unfortunately I do not have the new fully selectable version and this point, but it will on the trainers page as
soon as I get it.

FIRST ACCESSORY REVIEW ONLINE |
And a good one it is, I suggest you check it out here :)
It seems that a new set of grips for the GBA has been released, ones which makes your GBA look like an enhanced PSX controller
(grin). Anyway I've often heard from people complaining about the GBA being way too small to handle, maybe these new grips
will come in handy then? :)
The grips can be bought at www.goldenshop.com, I know I'll
have to get a set sometime, heh. Oh did I forget to mention that they're quite cheap, only US$4.
The send/backup util for DOS has received an update, to version 1.11, which fixes some speed problems, well here's
exactly what's been fixed in the updates:
V1.1 - 01/06/29 - Add -w option to slow down I/O transfer for some.
V1.11 - 01/06/30 - Set ECP chipsets to proper parallel port mode.
