The L64's Case

To make the case, I bought some styrene plastic from usplastics.com and built a vacuum-forming machine. It's basically a box with holes in the top that you put a form on top of. Then you lay hot plastic sheets on it and connect it to a vacuum. The plastic will get sucked over the mold and will stay that way when it cools.

Making the form/mold was time-consuming. I glued several layers of wood together and used my dad's woodshop to get things the way I wanted. However, I did not glue the front and back together. It was held together by pegs, and that way I could vacuum-form each half seperately. This meant each side would line up perfectly.

Here is the finished case after taking measurements and drilling holes. I think it looks pretty good.
