Z64 BIOS 2.11 Features
Please click here to download v.2.11 BIOS,
and the associated external patch file.
A permanent all-in-one single packaged Zelda 64
patch is HERE. (This additional "permanent" patch is only necessary if
you do not use the above external patch file along with BIOS 2.11, or
if you are using BIOS v.2.10.)
This BIOS update is our service committment to all our customers.
Note that if you have Z64 HW1.0, you do not need to upgrade as new BIOS
provides no benefits so the last BIOS you can upgrade
is BIOS v.2.00
Here are the new functions added since
BIOS v.2.00:
- Squeeze one or two more files on each ZIP diskette with .zip
format compression. You will have to "ZIP" the backup image file
first on PC. Note that game load will become *much* slower (due to
decompression) so you have a trade-off here. i.e. the more it
is compressed (to save space), the slower it loads (to decompress).
- Patches are now one compressed data file stored externally
on ZIP disk. (So each ZIP disk should have this file.) You can
download the external patch data file here
which includes many more patches and enhancements for new games.
You need to unzip that file and then copy it to your ZIP disk which
has game that needs patches.
Version 2.11 BIOS added support for APS file in the external patch
file because original Zelda 64 crack is a PC program file
to run on the PC, and many users don't have a PC and ZIP a driver
to run the crack program. IPS file cannot work on Zelda
crack, because IPS can only work on image <=16MB, and Zelda 64
is 32MB. APS is a new patch file format, which can process
files >16MB. So a APS file is used to support Zelda crack.
- Zelda 64 and future >16MB cartridges support. (though
patch/crack is still needed, such as Zelda 64.)
- Save Controller Memory Pak onto ZIP disk. Also Zelda 64
SRAM save onto ZIP disk is supported.
- Game consoles emulation filename support. (e.g. GB, NES,
SMC, NEO, MP3, etc.) (p.s. needs emulators to work though ...
emulator will be just like a regular N64 game which you need
to load into Z64 first.)
- ZIP Disk copy feature enabled to copy save data to another disk.
- Multi-Lingual support. (limited languages initially, but do you
really care?)
