N64 VHS VIDEOS

Over the years Nintendo, both in Europe and USA, have released a number of videos to promote games released as well as show off what will be released for the system in the future. This page shows off a few of these VHS cassettes.

N64 VIDEO 9/97
© 1997 DMV-Franzis' Verlag GmbH & Co KG
Video type: PAL

A german video, I'm not sure if it was released with magazine, features the same logo as the UK N64 Magazine. It features footage from E3 in Atlanta 1997 and videos, basicly just someone playing, not really the preview videos made by game companies. Games included are: Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Quest, Tetrisphere and Ken Griffey Baseball, as well as a lot of unlisted ones.

N64 VIDEO 10-11/97
© 1997 DMV-Franzis' Verlag GmbH & Co KG
Video type: PAL

A german video, same as above. Games included are: Go! Go! Troublemakers (Mischief Makers) F1 Pole Position, Dark Rift and Lylat Wars, as well as a lot of unlisted ones. Each tape also includes a few hints and cheats for games, as well as highscores.

N64 VIDEO 1-2/98
© 1997,98 DMV-Franzis' Verlag GmbH & Co KG
Video type: PAL

A german video, same as the two above. Games included are: Extreme G, Diddy Kong Racing, Multi Racing Championship and Top Gear Rally as well as a lot of unlisted ones. Each tape is about 30 minutes of game footage.

BANJO-KAZOOIE:
THE NEW ADV. BEGINS JUNE 29, 1998

© 1998 Nintendo/Rare
Video type: NTSC

Who haven't played this brilliant game, and this is the teaser video released before to give people a taste of what the game was like. I don't know if it was released with Nintendo Power (don't think so since it doesn't say Nintendo Power anywhere) and it's basicly just someone playing the game, don't rememebr any fancy details.

STARFOX 64:
LAUNCH DATE JUNE 30, 1997

© 1997 Nintendo of America
Video type: NTSC

A hilarious video where Sony and Sega kidnap the Starfox test pilot to learn more about the new secret game Nintendo has up their sleeve, and ofcourse also the Rumble Pak. I pretty sure this was released with Nintendo Power since it says "Brought to you by Nintendo Power" on the back of the cardboard box.

NINTENDO64 INTRODUCES THREE NEW
WAYS TO BRING IT.

© 1998 Nintendo of America
Video type: NTSC

Features 3 of the best sports titles released for the Nintendo64, Ken Griffey Baseball, 1080 Snowboarding and Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside. The video is actually not that great and, well not much to say really than it's quite boring, I'm not really into sports games anyway.

TOP GEAR RALLY
© 1997 Boss Game Studios
Video type: NTSC

I honestly have no clue of what this video is like since it refuses to run on my NTSC compatible PAL VCR, like a few other videos.

HOT NEWZ 64:
NSIDER'S GUIDE TO N64

© 1999 Nintendo of America
Video type: NTSC

Some smartass from NOA showing off, he makes me puke. Oh while acting stupid he introduces some of Nintendo's comming releases such as Donkey Kong 64 and Jet Force Gemini. It also features tips and cheats by some other moron from Nintendo's Nsider site, "Ask Dan". The previews of DK64 and JFG are cool, but the rest they could've left out.

WIEVIEL 3-D HÄLST DU AUS?
© Nintendo of Europe
Video type: PAL

Another German N64 video released for free, I have no idea how people got these though, maybe they were given away at stores. Anyway it features almost an hour of game info, just too much to list. A pretty nice video, except the fast that they speak german on the video :). I believe it was released during the early days, say 1997 or something.

NINTENDO64 THE NEW DIMENSION OF FUN

Video type: PAL

Even another free German N64 video released before the Nintendo64 was released in Europe, wether this is the US preview video dubbed with german speech or not, I'm not sure, but it's pretty cool.

NINTENDO64 FEEL EVERYTHING
© Nintendo of Europe
Video type: PAL

Seems that Germany had a ton of free N64 videos, this one covers games such as Zelda, 1080, F-Zero X and Jet Force Gemini. A brochure was made, looking like the video's cover.

GAMESHARK PRO:
HOW TO HACK LIKE A PRO

© Interact/Datel
Video type: NTSC

Included with the GameShark Pro. A 15 minute video which teaches you how to create new codes with your GameShark, nice but unuseful, how many bother making codes themselves?

NINTENDO64 PRESENTS
© KE Matiasen A/S
Video type: PAL

Released Q2 of 1999 by the Danish distributor of official N64 stuff, K.E. Media, as an info tape about comming releases. The tapes includes games such as Rayman 2 (promo), Gex 3D (just someone playing), Monaco Grand Prix 2 (promo/intro), Zelda (just someone playing), V-Rally '99 (intro and someone playing), Tonic Trouble (promo), Rogue Squadron (just someone playing), Rush 2 (just someone playing), Jet Force Gemini (just someone playing), Duke Nukem Zero Hour (just someone playing). By promo I mean that the clip is more like a commercial than just someone playing for awhile. The video was given for free to members of the Club Nintendo Denmark, cost DKR50 (around $8) per year to be a member. The tape itself aint someting special to look at, it just came wrapped in plastic.

DIDDY KONG RACING:
A WILD RACING ADVENTURE

© 1997 Nintendo/Rare
Video type: NTSC

Somewhat funny preview movie for Diddy Kong Racing. It's presented as a news broadcast with journalists "in the field" reporting on what happened to people playing the game.

CHANGE THE SYSTEM:
LAUNCH DATE SEPT. 29

© Nintendo
Video type: NTSC

Sent out to all subscribers of Nintendo Power. I have not been able to view this video since my PAL/NTSC video somehow wont read this tape (I actually have three of these tapes and it wont read any of them). But judging from the cover it probably shows clips from some of the very first N64 titles such as Super Mario 64, StarWars Empire Strikes Back and probably others such as BlastCorps and WaveRace64.

CHAMELEON TWIST
© Nintendo
Video type: NTSC

Released in USA as a teaser for the comming release of Cameleon Twist. The video is nothing special tho, it just shows clips from a few levels in the game, no speech, no cool intro, nothing... hmm well it matches the bad game. The video was distributed by Electro Source LLC.
