Remember the good old days where we hang around at the local grillbar and played Pac-Man
and other great classics on the arcades? Well if you do or dont, Namco Museum 64 is still of
interest to you. If you're old of the old buddies then you have the chance to re-experience
the good old games which entertained us for hours. If you dont remember those days, well then
you'll have a chance to check out what was the arcade hits back in the 80's.
Namco has collected 6 of their old arcade classic hits, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Galaxian,
Pole Position, Dig Dug and included them on one tiny 64mbit N64 cartridge. But just how do you
insert coins into a N64 cartridge you ask? Well man, you get to play all these arcade games
for free man, well that is when you've bought the cartridge.
The games themselves havent been tampered with at all, they look exactly like they did back
then. That might be cool and all, since it is called Museum, but wouldnt it be cooler if they
had changed the design just a tad? or if you could switch between the old version and a
graphic upgraded version like Nintendo did with their GB Game&Watch carts?
It all seems to me like it's Namco's attempt to make a quick buck, cause all they had to do
was create a small emulator with a nice graphic interface and then include the old arcade
roms, did I hear someone say Mame?
The control sometimes seem a bit on the down side, made me loose a pac-life now and then because
it didnt reach, as fast and smooth, or faster, as I wanted it to... aw crap!
Anyway, the games are ofcourse just as great as they were back then and I still enjoy playing
Pac-Man and the others, but I just wish Namco would've put a bit more into this project and maybe
even included a few more games, as they didnt have to play a lot of money for the development
of the games, only the emulator.
