Introduction ---------------- Hi everyone. I was a HUGE fan of Castlevania 64, and now that the sequal to the game is coming out in a few weeks, I just had to write a FAQ on it. And yes this FAQ is for THE WHOLE GAME not the demo of the game because THERE IS NO DEMO OF CASTLEVANIA: LEGACY OF DARKNESS. And I bet you are wondering, how did you make a FAQ for the game if it isn't even out yet. Well before you go sending me dozens of e-mail, I got most of the info. from Nintendo Power and all the rest from VARIOUS SITES ON THE WWW. Now about the game...Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness is the sequal to Castlevania 64. It takes place 8 years before Castlevania 64, so the areas may have the same names, but keep in mind that they are 8 YEARS IN THE PAST, so if you think you know your way around them from before, you are wrong. Now that you know a little about the game, let's start the FAQ.... 1.) Game Info. -------------- **Note - Not all of this info. may be correct, but in a few weeks all will be correct and more info. will be added as well** Title: Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness Platform: Nintendo 64 Developer: Konami Publisher: Nintendo Expansion Pak Compatibility: Yes Rumble Pak Compatibility: Yes Memory Pak Compatibility: Yes (I'm guessing) No. of Players: 1 ESRB Rating: Teen (Frightening Scenes; Animated blood and violence) 2.) Characters -------------- Ok, there ARE a total of 5 characters in the game, however I only have info. for one which is the one you start with and you must complete the game with in order to access the other 4. Cornell the Werewolf -------------------- Cornell is playing 8 years before the original Castlevania 64 even begins and he is the only half man half wolf thing on the earth at this time. His goal is to find his kidnapped sister. Attacks: Claw Swipe Energy Scythe Werewolf mode - Press the "L" button and Cornell will turn into Werewolf mode which allows to go faster and be stronger. This uses up his red jewels as well. Secondary weapons - Axes, Knifes, etc. The same as before, these also use up red jewels. 3.) Items --------- A list of all the items I know of so far: For all secondary weapons, the more you collect of 1 weapon, the more powerful it becomes :) Axe - Secondary weapon, uses red jewels Cross - Secondary weapon, uses red jewels Holy Water - Secondary weapon, uses red jewels Knife - Secondary weapon, uses red jewels Save Point - white jewels, saves your game. Red Jewels - Collect these in order to use secondary weapons. Switch Mechanism - opens gates, etc. Cure Ampoule - Cures Poison status Chicken Leg - Restores 40% HP Roast Beef - Restores 60% HP Gold Bag - Has gold inside; used to buy useful items Purifying Crystal - Cures VAMP status Healing Kit - Restores all HP and cures all status Power-Up - Makes you Primary weapons more powerful Key - Used to open doors, etc. Sun Card - Used to make the clock move until it reaches daylight Moon Card - Used to make the clock move until it reaches night-time Contract - Used to go to the shop to buy useful items 4.) Walkthrough --------------- Notice - THIS IS THE WALKTHROUGH FOR THE REAL GAME, it will be more complete when the game is released, but until then I have included a walkthrough for the first 4 levels as well as the first 4 bosses. 4.1 - Foggy Lake ---------------- Objectives: - Kill the Fishmen - Pull the switch and go to the top of the ship - Cross Invisible Bridge - Get the Deck Key - Go up higher - Watch out for the lantern - Fight the Lake Monster Boss _________________ Kill the Fishmen ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ As the game begins Cornell will be on the deck of a ship. Immediately 6 fishmen will come aboard the ship, now it is time for you to get the feel of Cornell's moves and attacks. Defeat the fishmen using cornell's claw attack or any other available attacks. Once you defeat the fishmen a platform will appear for you to reach the upper deck. ______________________________________________ Pull the switch and go to the top of the ship ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ You will see a switch that leads up to the upper deck. Pull the switch because even though the ship has no sails you will still have to move the mast if you even want to try to go anywhere. Pull the switch and climb up. _______________________ Cross Invisible Bridge ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Ahhh, remember way back to Castlevania 64 when you could see a secret but you couldn't reach it? Well, it's back in the sequal. Once you climb up look walk accross the invisible bridge :) _________________ Get the Deck key ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Swivel the 2nd Mast which gives Cornell access to the highest point on Mast D (See Map Section in my FAQ). Up here you will find the Deck Key hidden inside a torch. Get the Key and start heading back down to the decks below. _____________ Go up Higher ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Once you make it to the decks below, a huge monster will jump aboard the ship and water will start to fill the ship, so it looks like you are going to have to go back up to where it is safe. __________________________ Watch out for the Lantern ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ As you make your way up to safer ground away from the sinking ship, you will encounter a swinging lantern that will knock you down into the water if you aren't careful. To get past it, all you need to do is time your jump correctly and you should make your way to the other side safely. ___________________ BOSS: Lake Monster ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Well you might have guessed already, but the Lake Monster is the thing that caused your ship to start sinking in the first place. I strongly suggest that before you fight him, save your game at the white jewel once you get away from the sinking ship, because this guy can be pretty tough! Also before fighting, get some Roast Chicken and the Axe secondary weapon. When the monster swings his hand and tries to grab you jump out of the way of it, otherwise you will be lifted and beaten by the ugly monster. Once you start hitting the monster a lot he will begin to knock out parts of the floor (like in Super Mario 64 the final fight with bowser :) so be careful to not fall. Keep hitting the ugly beast and you will soon have it defeated and you can pass to the Forest of Silence. 4.2 - Forest of Silence ----------------------- 5.)
