A game which is a part of a old Japanese videogame saga, Sonic Wings. It can be called a combination of flight simulation and shoot-em-up, and was the first of its kind on the Nintendo64. The game features a one or two player mode and six different pilots with their own jets to choose from.

Personally I didn't really give this game much attention when it first was released back in 1998, and I don't think that many others did either, but today I decided to give the game a try since we're lacking new releases these days and the N64 is nearing the end.

You, as one of the six pilots, are given a mission to complete, like a flight over the pacific ocean, mission 2, where you have to take out a convoy of enemy ships, a battleship, a Leviathon (boss) and an unknown number of subs, which have attacked cities along the coastline.

So you have to take down these along with your wingmen while you're being attacked by the ships as well as aircrafts.

The game didn't seem that dull at first, but as the action only takes place in one area of the entire map, so you need to turn around the aircraft a lot of times to go back into battle, and it does get boring pretty quickly. But when you're fighting the enemy there's enough action to keep you busy, fireing and avoiding getting fired at.

But all enemies in one big lump in a tiny area of the map seriously isn't easy, or getting that enemy jet off your taile (crash!), it all gets boring after awhile and you quit playing.

I wouldn't really recommend this game, not even if it has a huge discount tag on it, you'll be wasting money no matter what, tho I must admit that I haven't checked out the multi (2) player part, so I cannot comment on that.

The graphics are nice and the sound follows along nicely, the control took a bit to figure out as you're able to shoot with 3 different buttons, but the use of the analogue stick in a flight sim is brilliant.

In all the game is missing action as well as better structured levels, it simply gets too boring. Maybe thats why everyone has forgotten it and it ended up in a bargain bin getting tossed around while people are looking for something better.
