Topic Summary

To anyone else out there that is interested in buying this low quality machine.  I got my last friday from liksang and it stopped/crashed on the first write, and now the flash doesn't work, I got an defective one.  This website said that there had been complaints about it with ppl getting defective cards.  Now the funny thing is that Lik-Sang won't pay for the shipping charges back to them.  They are making me pay 44 US dollars because this crap doesn't work.  The flash linker works because I can backup games but everytime i try to write to the piece of crap I get this error
PortMode = SPP
FileName = C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\GBA GAMES\007___Castlevania___Circle_of_Moon__j_\cpl-ccom.gba
FileSize = 8388608
checking rom information...
Game Name = DRACULA AGB1
Game Code = AAMJ
Device Type = 0
Write Flash Error!!!(0)
Time = 0 Sec

I am not asking for help or anything but I just want ppl to know about my experience before you decide to buy one and buy one from Lik Sang.  I am currently trying to solve this horrible problem out with Lik Sang but it seems like that they will make me pay for the shipping (44 dollars) and then ship this crap back to me working hopefully and pay for cheap 5-7 day delivery even though I paid 18 dollars for overnite international delivery.  Buyers Beware

Are you using batteries or powersupply? I had the exact same thing happento my GB Xchanger, caused by bad batteries

I was able to backup though.

Press the DEL key at bootup on most PC's to enter the bios, change lpt setting, exit and save.  Try the linker again.  Try it in all modes (EPP, ECP, SPP, ECP/SPP 1.7 and 1.9) till one works for you, also try changing the speed setting in the linker s/w.

Nothing, I tried every possible EEP/ECP. etc combination.  No luck I mailed the defective piece of crap back to Lik Sang, Caused me 44 US dollars and they won't reimburse me.  To anyone out there..........Lik Sang is not the best in customer service.  Thanks for the help though.

I just heard that there is supposed to be a new version of the Flashwriter software that address some of the problems with weird lockups while wrting.

Lets hope to see it posted somewhere soon!

I had all these probs after I tried doing Sram stuff reading/writing. (0Sec error)

So if the flash cart is locked up,   couldnt you just take out the Battery in the flashcart to reset it??
Someone wanna try it and see if it resets the thing like resetting Cmos on a PC mainboard?

If this works, the carts need a dang reset button!

Okay so now the 2.0 software is out. It does seem to work alot better. Surprise, there is an "Eraase Cart" button.

Has anyone got a new Turbo cart yet? Do they work any better? Or are we still stuck with lock ups?

Alright so my 64m cart worked for a while, then I go to rewrite it and BLAM 0 sec error. So I send it back to liksang and shell out the cash for the newer 128MB cart. I get the new cart, and it doesnt work at all either, right outta the box. Same thing, Write error (0).

I have no idea why it used to work and now it doesnt. So dam strange. I think I am about done spending on this.  Cmon liksang gimme some good news!

I did try to remove the battery BTW. Its soldered on.
Any Ideas out there? Anyone??

It works again. But I have to use a different computer for some reason. If you have a Multimeter you can test your batteries too. If they drop below 8.5 volts, forget about writin a cart. (thats less than a tenth of a volt a piece)

Also my cart was looped. (stuck) I dont know how come. Thankfully though I got a program called little writer that let me reformat the card when nothing else was working. (thanks for the info!)

I am happy with my cart once again.
