I did, used gep.exe (eeprom patch tool) for that - works perfectly.

I've tried gep but it says that "there is not enough room for the patch it may be buggy" so when I try to use it, it hangs.

That message just means that instead of writing the patch code at the end of the ROM it writes it somewhere else inside. I guess you've just accidentally flashed the wrong (un-patched) ROM.

Ya go to http://www.megagames.com/gba/gba.shtml they have the IPS patch if you have the flash advance writer
just turn IPS apply on and apply just like you would a game save. It worked great for me :-*
